Westclox 1950 Big Ben Moonbeam Pink Alarm Clock

Product Description

The Big Ben Moonbeam Alarm Clock is an old favorite ever since the 1950s. Once dubbed The Considerate Alarm, it gradually wakens sleepers with a flashing soft light that increases in intensity. After 4 minutes, it sounds a bell alarm to waken heavier sleepers. The fully illuminated dial allows for easy reading even in the dark and lends ambiance to the room. Updated from the original design, Moon Beam has an electric analog movement, and features a pink blush antiqued Big Ben dial with black Arabic numerals and hands protected by a convex lens. It also includes a snooze feature and battery back-up for timekeeping reliability during power outages (2 AA batteries, not included). 25 watt replaceable bulb. Dimensions: 5 inches x 6 1/2 inches x 2 inches. Perfect for any girl's room!

Customer Reviews

After buying the green Moonbeam clock for myself, I purchased a pink one for a relative. The color of this clock is a much richer, deeper pink than the displayed picture suggests (in the picture, it appears almost salmon in color and looks a bit washed out, which is NOT how it really looks). Potential buyers also should know that, as with the other Moonbeam clocks, the pink one also has a thin (and aesthetically pleasing) silver band along the base of the clock that I personally couldn't see in any of the online picture. Also, please note that those who don't wake up to the gently flashing light (which is effective in itself) are treated to a cheerful ringing alarm instead of a cranky buzzing.
As with the green Moonbeam that I purchased, this pink one also works perfectly and delighted its recipient, who has mentioned more than once what a pleasure it is to wake up to a softly lit analog "face" instead of harsh red digital numbers. A perfect marriage of functionality, reliability, and an appearance that is 100% delightful.
Finally, I should add that this clock adds charm to any decor, since we're not into retro looks. Yes, this clock is a remake of a classic made by a classic manufacturer (Westclox has been sold off, but the label on the bottom of both Moonbeam clocks that I purchased from this site proudly read "Westclox"), but it plays well with rooms that are modern, minimalist, neutral, traditional, romantic, and any other style.

Many years ago my husband had a similiar clock that he took to college and it was still in good working order when we married and i loved that clock. Waking up to a blinking light minutes before the dreadful audio alarm and then sadly it died. I was sooo pleased to find this clock and once again happily wake to the flashing light and most mornings am up and out of bed before the alarm sounds and wakes the entire house. The amber glow of the clockface is a lovely nightlight and very visible for these aging eyes. Wish there were more colors offered but i'm just happy to have found my old friend.
